    • Construction of the solar park created 15 local jobs.

EV Battery Cell Plant

    • General Motors (GM) and Samsung SDI are investing $3 billion in a joint venture to establish an EV battery cell plant in Northern Indiana.
    • Construction of the plant will create an estimated 1,000 local jobs. Once fully operational in 2026, the facility will employ approximately 1,700 people.
    • At full capacity, the plant should be able to produce 30 Gigawatts hours of battery capacity annually, helping GM scale its EV capacity to more than 1 million units per year.

Geothermal Conversion at Margaret Mary Cancer Center

    • The Margaret Mary Health Cancer Center’s new state-of-the-art 126,000 square foot facility, currently under construction, will utilize geothermal energy for its HVAC system. 
    • The project saved up to $300,000, and the hospital will see a 6-year return on investment using clean, firm geothermal energy.

Mammoth Solar

  • Fast Facts:
    • Spanning Starke and Pulaski Counties, Mammoth Solar is one of the largest solar projects in the U.S. When complete, it will generate 1.3 gigawatts of electricity, enough to power 275,000 homes annually. Currently Mammoth North is operational, while South and Central are under construction.
    • Sixty-five families lease their land to project developer Doral. When the project is decommissioned, the land will be returned to the families to use as they see fit.
    • Roughly 2,500 sheep, donkeys, alpacas, and Kunekune pigs graze daily underneath the array at Mammoth North, a practice known as agrivoltaics that helps both support local farming while managing vegetation.
    • Solar technology and racking for the project have been sourced from production facilities in America, including steel from Indiana mills.
